Founded in 2016, the Mechanics, Acoustics, and Dynamics Lab (MADLab) is an engineering research lab focused on understanding the fundamental mechanics of advanced structured material systems and leveraging this understanding to create new technologies for aerospace and mechanical applications.

As a university lab, we are committed to developing the next generation of engineering leaders and researchers by providing educational opportunities to graduate, undergraduate, and local high-school students. Located in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, a region known for its engineering innovation and natural resources, our research benefits from a robust local collaborative network while maintaining strong connections with government research labs and major US industry partners.
